Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay’s strategic engagement with Gas Off-Takers marks a major step towards industrial growth

In a decisive move aimed at deepening industrial collaboration and ensuring consistent energy supply, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas), Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, embarked on a strategic working visit to Tema in the Greater Accra Region. The one-day tour, held on June 30, 2025, focused on forging stronger partnerships with key gas off-takers as Ghana intensifies its push towards industrialization through reliable gas supply.

Strengthening industrial collaboration

Ms. Blay’s visit brought her into high-level discussions with executives from some of the most prominent gas-consuming companies in the Tema industrial enclave, including Fujian Sentuo Ceramic Tile Company Limited, Continental Blue Investment Ghana Limited, and the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo). These engagements underscored the need for improved cooperation between Ghana Gas and industrial stakeholders to ensure stable gas flow and operational synergy.

With Tema being a major industrial hub, Ms. Blay’s meetings were centered on aligning gas supply strategies with the specific energy needs of these companies. “Operational efficiency is central to Ghana’s industrial transformation,” Ms. Blay noted, emphasizing that the collaboration between Ghana Gas and its off-takers is key to supporting both economic growth and energy security.

Enhancing energy infrastructure and transportation

A significant aspect of the discussions focused on the strengthening of gas transportation networks. With Ghana increasingly positioning gas as the cornerstone of its industrialization agenda, stakeholders at the meeting explored avenues for infrastructure upgrades and capacity building. These steps are expected to ensure efficient delivery and usage of gas, reducing downtime and promoting sustainable growth in the manufacturing sector.

Supporting the downstream sector

In a particularly high-profile engagement, Ms. Blay met with the Chairman of the Sentuo Group, Mr. Ningquan Xu, and other executives of Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited. The dialogue revolved around Ghana Gas’ critical role in powering downstream refining operations. Ms. Blay reaffirmed the company’s commitment to meeting the growing energy needs of refineries and helping them achieve operational resilience.

Ghana Gas’ collaboration with Sentuo and other refinery operators is expected to significantly reduce reliance on imported fuels while boosting local production capacities.

Reinforcing partnerships for power generation

Another key focus of Ms. Blay’s working visit was reaffirming the existing partnership between Ghana Gas and the Volta River Authority (VRA). As one of the primary users of gas for power generation, the VRA plays a pivotal role in keeping the lights on in Ghana. Ghana Gas’ continued supply to VRA highlights the company’s contribution to national power stability and long-term energy sustainability.

Aligning with Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy Policy

Ms. Blay’s visit reflects Ghana Gas’ broader strategic alignment with the government’s 24-hour economy policy — a vision to transform Ghana into an industrialized nation operating at full productivity. By focusing on “Gas for Industrialization,” Ghana Gas is positioning itself as a key enabler of economic transformation, job creation, and value-added production across sectors.

A visit to the heart of operations

The day concluded with a visit to the Tema Regulating and Metering Station (TRMS), one of the most critical infrastructure points in Ghana’s gas distribution network. Ms. Blay took the opportunity to commend the staff for their professionalism and dedication, highlighting their role in maintaining stable and secure gas delivery to industries and power producers.

The Tema visit signals Ghana Gas’ renewed commitment to stakeholder engagement and proactive leadership in energy delivery. As the country seeks to industrialize and expand its energy infrastructure, Ms. Blay’s leadership continues to play a central role in positioning gas as a cornerstone of national development.
