Ghana Gas completes planned maintenance works ahead of schedule

Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) has successfully completed its scheduled maintenance operations ahead of time, marking a significant operational achievement for the country’s premier gas processing entity.

Maintenance concluded before deadline

Originally slated for a 14-day completion window, the planned maintenance was completed ahead of schedule by Ghana Gas’ technical and maintenance teams. The facilities were formally handed back to the Operational Unit earlier today, signaling a swift return to normal operations.

The work was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, which had projected the two-week maintenance duration. However, the team’s efficiency enabled an early delivery—demonstrating both technical capability and organizational discipline.

Scope of maintenance work

Key components of the maintenance included:

  • Servicing of the Heat Medium System
  • Calibration of Safety Systems
  • Overhaul of the Transmission Compressor

These critical systems are essential to the safe and efficient operation of Ghana’s gas infrastructure and their timely servicing ensures continued reliability and performance.

CEO commends team effort

Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Gas, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, expressed her appreciation for the team’s commitment and professionalism.

“I want to sincerely congratulate our maintenance and technical team for the remarkable job done. Your dedication and strong collaboration have enabled us to finish this complex project ahead of schedule. This is a testament to Ghana Gas’ standard of excellence.”

Ms. Blay emphasized that such milestones are crucial to ensuring energy security and supporting Ghana’s broader green transition goals.

Return to normal gas supply imminent

With the maintenance phase successfully concluded, the plant is expected to stabilize and resume normal operations within hours. Gas flow volumes are anticipated to return to expected levels by the end of the day, supporting power generation and industrial needs across the country.

Corporate assurance

The company has reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in operational efficiency and safety. The early completion of this maintenance cycle is expected to have a positive ripple effect across the energy sector, minimizing downtime and ensuring supply stability.
