African Editors’ sources have confirmed the death of one of Ghana’s most iconic highlife musicians, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. The beloved artiste passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.

Hospital admission ends in tragedy

According to sources close to the family, Daddy Lumba had been admitted to the hospital in recent days due to an undisclosed health condition. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he succumbed to the illness just before dawn on Saturday.

As of 1:00 PM on Saturday, a large crowd had gathered at Daddy Lumba’s residence in East Legon, Accra. Mourners included fellow musicians, entertainment industry players, and grieving fans who flocked to the home upon hearing the sad news.
