Ghana signs host agreement ahead of 7th African, Caribbean and Pacific Sates Ministers Summit

Government of Ghana has signed a host country agreement with the secretariat of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific for the upcoming 7th Meeting of OACPS Ministers in Charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The 7th OACPS meeting, which is slated for April 5 to 8, 2022, would host 79 member States, represented by their policy-makers, practitioners and professionals within the fisheries and aquaculture sector to deliberate on how to protect marine life and utilise its resources for national development.

The theme for the meeting is “OACPS Blue Economy Agenda 2020: Catalysing the Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Development for the Future.”

Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson speaking at a brief ceremony to officially sign the host country agreement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra indicated government’s readiness to provide a conducive environment which will facilitate fruitful deliberations.

“It is important to state that the selection of Ghana to host the 7th meeting from amongst the 79 African member states of the OACPS is significant miles stone which we will take advantage of” she said.

The minister also expressed appreciation to Madam Frema Osei Opare, the Chief of Staff, and other officials of working at Ghana’s mission in Belgium and the European Union for their tireless efforts at making sure that the conference in Ghana becomes a success.
Present at the Meeting was Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botcwey, Cristelle Pratt, Assistant Secretary-General of the OCAPS , members of the national planning committee and other officials of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
