Ghana Union Movement launches 2024 manifeso in Kumasi
The Ghana Union Movement (GUM) has revealed their manifesto for the upcoming general election, focusing on reviving the policies of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The manifesto, titled “The New Ghana,” emphasized industrialization, technical education, agriculture, job creation, governance and welfare programs.
During the manifesto’s launch at Prempe Assembly Hall in Kumasi, the Flag-bearer of GUM, Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrew, highlighted the party’s campaign for the 2024 general election with a focus on industrialization and job creation, aiming to continue Dr. Nkrumah’s progressive vision.
To promote industrialization, Reverend Andrew stated that a GUM government would implement a duty-free port for local trade and provide free power for local businesses. The party also promised a review of the current educational system, emphasizing technical and vocational education and training, with a plan to eliminate the use of examinations to measure students’ intellect. In addressing the issue of illegal mining, GUM proposed to regulate small-scale mining activities and prioritize sustainable mining practices.
Regarding welfare, GUM’s policy includes providing monthly allowances for retirees at age 60 and offering opportunities for prisoners to engage in community service and reintegrate into society. As for NDC’s “24-hour economy” policy, Reverend Andrew criticized it, stating that it would not address the country’s economic challenges without the revival of collapsed companies.
Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrews encouraged voters to choose GUM over the NDC and NPP, claiming that both parties have failed to prioritize the country’s development. Party supporters at the event also urged Ghanaians to vote for GUM in the upcoming elections.
