Gifty Afenyi Dadzie, Ama Governor & 180 new lawyers called to the Bar
Gifty Afenyi Dadzie, a media practitioner and former President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), was among the 182 newly qualified lawyers recently inducted into the legal profession. Also among the new lawyers was social media personality Elorm Ababio, known as Ama Governor, who had previously been denied entry to the bar by the General Legal Council.
After joining the bar, Gifty Afenyi Dadzie expressed her belief that the legal knowledge she acquired would enhance her contributions to Ghana’s democracy. She highlighted the challenges she faced on her journey to becoming a lawyer and encouraged others to persevere in the face of failure, as God will see them through.
The call to the bar is in accordance with the Legal Profession Act, 1960, and the event was attended by friends, family, and well-wishers of the new lawyers. Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo led the induction ceremony, stressing the importance of not taking shortcuts in the pursuit of justice for clients.
The event also saw the presence of Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Diana Asonaba Dapaah, President of the Ghana Bar Association Yaw Acheampong Boafo, Director of the Ghana School of Law Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, and other superior court judges. Chief Justice Torkornoo emphasized the need for thorough preparation and dedication to ensuring quality justice in the legal profession.
