Gyakye Quayson challenges daily trial at Court of Appeal

Assin North MP Elect, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson has filed an appeal in the Court of Appeal challenging the daily trial order made by High Court judge, Mary Yanzuh.

To ensure that Quayson gets a fair trial in the criminal case against him, his lawyers have filed an application for Stay of Proceedings pending the determination of his appeal on grounds of several errors of law committed by the trial judge which breach Quayson’s right to a fair trial.

Motion for Stay of Proceedings to be moved tomorrow at 11am by the venerable Tsatsu Tsikata Esq. at Criminal Court 3 (3rd floor of the Court Complex) Accra.

THE ASIN NORTH BY-ELECTION WAS A WASTE OF TAXPAYERS’ MONEY.

The recent by-election at Asin North has demonstrated once again that the NPP government led by President Nana Addo and his compatriots are not good stewards of the Ghanaian taxpayer’s money. The by-election exercise was a political witch-hunt not only against the NDC but also MP Elect Gyakye Quayson. The people of Ghana expect Nana Addo and his NPP govt to put taxpayers’ money into good use but far too often when it comes to wasteful spending the NPP govt is ranked perhaps first in our sub-region.

How do you justify the cost of running the just-ended Asin North by-election? It was a greedy effort by the NPP to secure additional votes in Parliament to implement a Western Liberal Social agenda. So even if taxpayers’ money has to be wasted so be it. I have say not all decisions by a court of law is morally correct. It is about time we look at how we address vacancies in Parliament. There was no need to conduct a by-election in Asin Nortb. Gyakye Quason should have been reinstated to avoid unnecessary wasteful spending. Now the so-called criminal case against MP Elect Gyakye Quason clearly shows a political witch hunt by the NPP.

Lessons Learned from Assin North By-election shows we need to address a future MP vacancy in Parliament to avoid waste of taxpayers’ money. Henceforth it is in my humble opinion and suggestion that whenever there is an MP vacancy in Parliament, the party in question should be allowed to appoint another person from the same political party to fill the vacancy. Holding a by-election is a waste of taxpayers’ money. MP Gyakye Quason’s case is an ongoing political witch hunt. It is now time to amend the Constitution to address issues with dual citizenship and vacant positions in Parliament.
