Hearts of Oak beats Bechem to retain MTN FA Cup

The capital base club Accra Hearts of Oak has defeated Bechem United at the Baba Yara stadium by two goals to one to win the MTN FA Cup back to back.

In form Bechem United started the game with much energy, but for the brilliant of Hearts goalkeeper Richmond Ayi they would have taken the lead.

There was a drama in the later stages of the game as Emmanuel Avornyo opened the scoring for Bechem in the 45th minutes, but Caleb Amankwa got the equalizer before the break.

Hearts started the second half more determined and purposeful. They got the deserved lead in the 60th minutes courtesy the birthday boy Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

It was a well worked ball through the middle as Addo found Awako who sumptuously found Afriyie in the box, who made no mistake and calmly put the ball at the back of the net to give Hearts the led.

There was more troubles for Bechem as their talisman Augustine Okrah was red carded for head butting an assistant referee.

Hearts of Oak has now won the FA Cup record 12times.

FA Cup triumphant means Hearts together with Kotoko will represent the country at Africa next season.

Last season Hearts won the league and the FA Cup, which means they were automatically champions of champions.

This season Kotoko won the League and now Hearts has won the MTNFA Cup, which means champions of champions will be between the two big clubs in Ghana.
