Human Rights Court throws out Charles Bissue’s case against OSP

The Human Rights Court has dismissed a case filed by Charles Bissue against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Kaneshie District Court. In addition, the Court imposed a GH¢10,000 cost on Bissue for wasting the Court’s time and misleading it with claims that the OSP had unlawfully obtained an arrest warrant to target him. The Court described these claims as a “figment of his imagination.”

The case stemmed from Bissue’s attempt to secure a 10-day injunction, filed ex parte, to prevent the OSP from arresting him. In his application, Bissue’s legal team argued that the OSP had unlawfully obtained an arrest warrant. However, the OSP had not secured any such warrant.

Justice Nana Brew, after reviewing the case, stated that the matter was centered on whether the Kaneshie District Court had issued an arrest warrant for Bissue at the request of the OSP. He emphasized that it was Bissue’s responsibility to prove the existence of the warrant. The judge concluded that no arrest warrant had been issued and dismissed the case, ruling that Bissue’s claims were unfounded.

As a result, the Court ordered Bissue to pay GH¢10,000 in costs to the OSP.
