I will only campaign for NPP if Napo is running mate –Ken Agyapong
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) has expressed his belief that the ideal running mate for NPP Flagbearer Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in their mission to defeat the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) John Dramani Mahama and secure a third term is Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO.
Kennedy Agyapong believes that over the years, NAPO has demonstrated his commitment to the party and has established positive relationships with party members. Agyapong asserts that selecting NAPO as Bawumia’s running mate will energize party members and boost NPP’s chances of victory in the 2024 elections.
Kennedy Agyapong has stated that he will only campaign for NPP if Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is chosen as the running mate. This endorsement by Agyapong is seen as significant, as his strong showing in the NPP presidential primary and his support among grassroots party members suggests that NAPO is capable of uniting the party.
Moreover, NAPO’s royal status as an Asante and his close ties to the Manhyia Palace are believed to give him the ability to garner support for the NPP within the Asante kingdom, an important stronghold for the party. NAPO’s connection with the party’s grassroots, combined with his impressive performance as Minister for Education and Energy in the Akufo-Addo administration, make him a strong candidate to help Bawumia attract floating voters to the NPP camp.
