JJ’s 1yr Anniversary: ‘Let’s defend probity, accountability and social justice he stood for’- W/R NDC
As Ghana marks the one year anniversary of late President Jerry John Rawlings, Western Regional NDC is urging members to defend the anti-graft principles of probity, accountability and social justice the former Ghaianan Leader stood for.
A statement signed and issued by the Western Regional Secretary of the biggest opposition party on Friday 12 November 2021 in Accra-Ghana, said “Today marks exactly a year when H. E. J. J. Rawlings went home to join his maker. We lost a founder, a leader and a bulwark. The vacuum created by your departure is such that the rank and file of your beloved NDC is still in grief”.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS – WESTERN REGION
PRESS RELEASE : ONE YEAR COMMEMORATION OF THE PASSING OF H. E. J. J. RAWLINGS
12- 11-2021
Today marks exactly a year when H. E. J. J. Rawlings went home to join his maker. We lost a founder, a leader and a bulwark. The vacuum created by your departure is such that the rank and file of your beloved NDC is still in grief.
Nevertheless, we take solace from the very solid principles you stood for. The principles of probity, accountability and social justice, which constitute the very essence of our great NDC party.
We are very proud of you because you didn’t only found the NDC, you are indeed the father of the 4th Republic too.
Your sacrifices to mother Ghana born out of your love for humanity are unparalleled. You took Ghana from the doldrums and gave it life and hope. In your quest to put the nation back on track, no region was left out, and so we in the Western Region have many things to forever remember you for.
You extended electricity and water from the regional capital Sekondi Takoradi to every district of the region and made the lives of the people better. You maintained our railways, you built Aboadze Thermal Plant, and you built the only fishing harbour in the region, the Bosomtwi fishing harbour in Sekondi.
You established Baidoo Bonsoe sec, Mpohor sec., Daboase sec. Adiembra sec., Bompe sec., Esiama sec., Shama sec., and many others to expand access to secondary education.
You upgraded UMART to a tertiary institution and revitalised Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL), and has since remained a very solid company providing jobs to many in the region.
As we commemorate this day, we in the NDC rededicate ourselves to your noble ideals and are resolved to work even harder to rescue this country from the claws of bad leadership and the concomitant suffering that the good people of this country have been subjected to and make lives better just as you yearned to see.
May the Lord continue to keep you in his blossom. Amen.
Signed
JOSEPH NELSON
(REGIONAL SECRETARY)
