Kwaku Kwarteng removed as Finance C’ttee Chair

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader, has revealed a reorganization of the majority leadership in parliament. As a result, Kwaku Kwarteng, the Obuasi West MP, has been relieved of his position as Chairman of the Finance Committee.

African Editors sources have confirmed that, Mr. Kwarteng will now serve as the Majority Spokesperson on the Economy Committee. The new standing orders have established the Economy Committee as a separate entity from the Finance Committee, albeit with lesser authority.

Afenyo-Markin made the surprising announcement on the floor of Parliament on Friday, June 28, much to the dismay of some Majority MPs. This was the sole change announced by Afenyo-Markin, with speculations circulating about potential additional changes being made public in the coming days.
