Labadi Beach Hotel wins court injunction against Polo Beach Club

The High Court’s Land Division in Accra has granted Labadi Beach Hotel an interim injunction, blocking Spartan Ives Limited, operators of Polo Beach Club, from encroaching on the hotel’s property. The injunction, issued on December 19, 2024, follows legal action by Hotel Investments (Ghana) Limited, the hotel’s owners, to reclaim land under dispute.

The court order explicitly prohibits Spartan Ives Limited and its affiliates from:

1. Trespassing on 0.54 acres of Labadi Beach Hotel’s property, including its use for parking, pathways, or events.

2. Operating Polo Beach Club or holding events on the hotel’s land or any adjacent restricted areas.

3. Using the beachfront next to the hotel’s property in violation of the lease agreement signed on November 27, 1990.

The injunction, effective for 10 days, warns of contempt of court proceedings if the defendants fail to comply.

This legal action underscores Labadi Beach Hotel’s commitment to protecting its property amid ongoing land encroachment claims. Led by David Eduaful, the hotel’s management presented affidavits to assert its rights and preserve its reputation as Ghana’s premier 5-star beach resort.

The court order marks a crucial development in the hotel’s efforts to resolve land disputes and maintain a peaceful environment for its guests. Further updates are expected as the case progresses.
