Lawyer sues CJ and GLC
Private legal practitioner Kwame Aning Fosu-Gyeabour has filed a lawsuit against the General Legal Council, Chief Justice, and Judicial Secretary challenging a circular that instructed all courts not to grant him an audience.
Mr. Fosu-Gyeabour alleges that the defendants acted unlawfully in issuing the circular. He was suspended from practising as a lawyer for 12 months in May 2023 by the disciplinary committee of the GLC. Seeking to set aside the circular, Mr. Fosu-Gyeabour is also requesting a perpetual injunction to prevent the defendants from unlawfully interfering with his practice as a lawyer or his law firm.
He is seeking general damages, legal fees, and any other appropriate reliefs.
