Mahama, Akufo-Addo to begin transition process Wednesday

John Dramani Mahama, Ghana’s president-elect, has announced that outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has congratulated him, and both leaders have agreed to initiate an early transition process.

Mahama revealed that they plan to establish a joint transition team this week, just two days after his confirmation as the winner of the 2024 elections.

“I received a call from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, who graciously congratulated me. We also discussed the formation of the joint transition team and agreed to begin the process with an early inauguration on Wednesday, December 11,” Mahama stated.

He made these remarks during his victory speech shortly after the Electoral Commission declared him the president-elect.

Expressing gratitude, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to working together with Akufo-Addo to ensure a smooth and efficient transition in the best interests of the Ghanaian people. “I also conveyed my sincere thanks to him and reiterated my readiness to collaborate for the benefit of our nation,” he added.
