Mahama asks NDC MPs to nominate Bagbin as Speaker of 9th Parliament
President-elect John Dramani Mahama has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament to nominate Alban Bagbin for the position of Speaker in the 9th Parliament.
A press release from Mahama’s office, signed by his special aide, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, indicated that after consulting with the NDC’s national executive and parliamentary leadership, Mahama believes Bagbin’s nomination is essential for the upcoming Parliament.
Mahama emphasized that the current Speaker has the necessary experience to effectively lead the new Parliament.
The 8th Parliament will be dissolved on Monday, January 6, to make way for the election of a new Speaker and deputies for the 9th Parliament.
