Mahama I defeated can’t be my successor –Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has restated his strong opposition to the idea of handing over the presidency to his predecessor, Mr John Dramani Mahama.
In a speech to the chiefs and people of Wa, Upper West Region, President Akufo-Addo thanked them for their support during his presidency and outlined his succession plans.
Addressing the Paramount Chief of the Waala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, President Akufo-Addo announced his intention to return with the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as his successor. He made it clear that he would not pass power to John Dramani Mahama, whom he defeated and ousted from office in 2016.
The President also reiterated his dedication to ensuring peace before, during, and after the December 7 elections, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and support in upholding the country’s reputation as a leader in democratic governance in Africa.
