MoH launches Nat’l Infection Prevention & Control Strategy
The Ministry of Health (MoH), in partnership with its agencies, has initiated the National Infection Prevention and Control Strategy in Accra. The strategy, slated for implementation from 2024 to 2028, aims to prevent, minimize, and manage Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) to enhance patient safety and health outcomes.
The strategy also aims to establish a comprehensive integrated Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program, develop national IPC guidelines, enhance education and training in IPC, establish a system for monitoring HAI and AMR, and evaluate IPC practices with feedback.
During his address, Minister for Health Kwaku Agyeman-Manu emphasized the importance of preventing infections in healthcare facilities to safeguard patient and health worker well-being, ensure quality care, uphold health security, and combat HAIs and AMR.
