National Security seizes 12 containers of US dollars, suspected gold bars

National Security has carried out a significant operation, confiscating a large, unspecified sum of U.S. dollars and Ghanaian cedi notes hidden in twelve 20-foot shipping containers.

The containers were traced to a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga South Municipality, where a special operation was launched after receiving a tip-off.

The hidden cash, mostly in bundles of U.S. dollars, was found inside wooden boxes packed with cement.

During the raid, further searches in the warehouse revealed additional cash hidden in compartments sealed with plywood and charcoal.

National Security operatives report that two containers are still missing, but tracking efforts are ongoing.

In addition, a manhunt has been launched for four suspects, including a leader known only as Alhaji.

The search of the warehouse also led to more alarming finds, including boxes containing metals believed to be gold bars, counterfeit ₵50 and ₵100 Ghanaian cedi notes, and fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots.
