NDC has the men & women to fix Akufo-Addo’s mess – Mahama
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a commitment to restore economic stability if elected as President. He expressed confidence in the talented individuals within the NDC who, in his opinion, can effectively deal with the economic challenges created by the current government under President Akufo-Addo.
During a speech to students at the Sefwi Wiaso Nurses Training College, Mahama stressed that a future NDC government, if given the chance, would strive to lay a strong foundation for the country’s economy. He attributed the recent increase in fuel and food prices to what he described as mismanagement of the economy by the Akufo-Addo administration.
Mahama says, “I have spoken with some drivers and they have apologized to me for voting me out. In my time, a gallon of petrol cost GH¢14, but now it’s even higher; I can’t even tell you exactly. All these issues are a consequence of the mismanagement of the economy. We purchase fuel with dollars, so if the economy is not managed well and the exchange rate between the dollar and cedi is unfavorable, the prices of goods and services will rise. But because the economy has been mismanaged, petrol is expensive. The NDC has the capable individuals to effectively manage the economy. When we return to power, we will strive to improve life for all of you.”
