NDC sues EC over disqualification of Amenfi Central candidate

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed a legal challenge against the Electoral Commission (EC) following the disqualification of its parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central in the Western Region.

The lawsuit, dated October 17 and registered at the Accra High Court under case number GJ/0088/2025, names the NDC and Madam Joan Gyan Cudjoe, the disqualified candidate, as plaintiffs, with the EC as the defendant.

In its claim, the NDC is seeking an interlocutory injunction under Order 25 Rule 1 of Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) 47. The party requests that the court prevent the EC from printing ballot papers and issuing the notice of poll for the 2024 parliamentary elections in the Amenfi Central Constituency until the substantive case is resolved.
