NDC’s activities in the month of June to honour legacy and rekindle patriotism
The month of June holds deep historical and emotional significance for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as it commemorates key milestones that shaped both the party and Ghana’s democratic journey. From moments of revolution to birthdays that echo the heartbeat of a nation, the NDC invites members, supporters, and the general public to engage in a series of meaningful events throughout the month. Here’s how you can be part of it all:
June 3 – Opening reflections at the symposium in Agomenya
The month begins with intellectual reflection and dialogue at a symposium on June 3rd, to be held at the Holy Trinity Parish Hall, Agomenya, starting at 2:00 PM. This gathering will bring together thought leaders, party historians, and grassroots organizers to delve into key moments in the party’s past and how they shape current policy directions. Attendees can expect spirited conversations that reaffirm the NDC’s enduring values of probity, accountability, and social justice.
June 4 – Honouring the spirit of the Uprising
The 46th anniversary of the June 4th Uprising will be marked on June 4th at Lasii Park, Odumasi Krobo, with events kicking off at 8:00 AM. A flag-raising ceremony and wreath-laying durbar will honor the courage and sacrifice of the patriots who stood for justice in the face of tyranny. This annual ritual is more than remembrance—it is a call to uphold the very principles that birthed a revolution and a movement that would later become the NDC.
June 10 – Celebrating the party’s journey: 33 years on
On June 10th, the NDC will commemorate 33 years since its formation. The event, hosted at the NDC Party Office in Adabraka at 10:30 AM, will reflect on the party’s achievements and setbacks through the years. Veterans, young cadres, and dignitaries will speak on the evolving mission of the party in Ghana’s changing political landscape. It’s a time for celebration—but also for rededication to the cause.
June 19 – Cadres Day: Saluting the backbone of the revolution
Cadres Day on June 19th celebrates the men and women who laid the groundwork for a party rooted in activism and grassroots mobilization. Held at the NDC Party Office starting at 10:00 AM, this event shines a light on the often-unsung heroes whose courage and commitment have kept the party strong. It’s also an opportunity to inspire the next generation to carry the torch.
June 22 – The Rawlings Day: Remembering a legend
The month concludes on a deeply personal and patriotic note with The Rawlings Day on June 22nd—the birthday of the party’s founder, H.E. Jerry John Rawlings. At the NDC Party Office, Adabraka, beginning at 10:30 AM, members will gather to celebrate the life and vision of the man who dared to dream of a just and egalitarian Ghana. Expect tributes, stories, and a rekindling of Rawlings’ enduring message: “The revolution is not an event, but a process.”
