NPP running mate slot: Bawumia settles on Dr. Opoku Prempeh

African Editors sources have confirmed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia consulted President Akufo-Addo on his choice of running mate for the December 7 presidential election. The meeting between the two took place at the Jubilee House, where Dr. Bawumia presented his preferred candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO. President Akufo-Addo offered advice and thoughts on the choice but ultimately accepted it. Dr. Opoku Prempeh, a 56-year-old medical doctor, has served in various parliamentary and ministerial roles and appears to be the favorite among the NPP grassroots. The formal announcement of the running mate is expected after a meeting with the party’s council. Additionally, a survey conducted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) showed strong support for Dr. Opoku Prempeh among NPP delegates for the running mate position.
