NPP to set up c’ttee to probe 2024 election defeat –Stephen Ntim

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to form a committee in January 2025 to review the circumstances surrounding its loss in the 2024 general elections.

Mr. Stephen Ntim, the National Chairman, made this announcement during a press briefing on Monday, December 23. He explained that the proposed Election Review Committee would engage party stakeholders and the public to analyze the factors that contributed to the defeat.

The NPP leadership believes that the committee’s findings will provide a foundation for the necessary reforms to strengthen the party and better prepare it for future challenges.

“In January 2025, the party will establish an effective and impartial Election Review Committee to conduct a postmortem of the election results. The committee will consult with all party stakeholders and the public to assess the factors and circumstances behind our loss,” Mr. Ntim stated.

He emphasized that one of the key areas the committee will focus on is the potential need for constitutional amendments and restructuring of the party’s internal decision-making processes. This includes reviewing the methods for electing presidential and parliamentary candidates, as well as party executives.

Mr. Ntim also expressed sincere gratitude to all party members and supporters for their dedicated efforts during the campaign. Despite the intensive campaigning and high hopes, he acknowledged that the party was unable to secure the desired victory.

“We worked tirelessly at every level, from polling stations to the national stage. While we did not win this time, our commitment to the vision of a better Ghana, shaped by the NPP’s ideals, remains strong,” he said.

Recognizing the disappointment felt by party members and supporters, Mr. Ntim assured them that the leadership shares in their frustration.

“These are difficult times, but we are a resilient party. We will rise from this defeat, and together, we will make the elephant roar once again,” he affirmed.
