Nzema Chiefs summon Prof. Gadzekpo to appear in 7-days over gay comments
The Board Chair of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, has been summoned by six paramountcies of Nzema-land to appear before them in 7-days to address the controversy surrounding her recent comments about homosexual practices within Ghanaian cultures. During an appearance on Joy Newsfile, Prof. Gadzekpo had mentioned that Ga and Nzema cultures had documented instances of homosexual practices.
In response to these comments, the chiefs organized a joint press conference expressing their disappointment and anger at the professor’s remarks. Chief Awulae Ati Brukusu III, representing the chiefs, stated that the people of Nzema-land are embarrassed by the comments and demanded an explanation from Prof. Gadzekpo.
Chief Awulae Ati Brukusu III has given the professor seven days to meet with them in the Western Region to address the issue and apologize for the remarks. He emphasized that the claims made by Prof. Gadzekpo were inaccurate and disrespectful to the traditions and beliefs of the Nzema people.
Chief Awulae Ati Brukusu III noted that “By our custom Prof. Gadzekpo supposed to pacify all the six paramountcies. We have given her 7-days to meet us”.
