Organised Labour declares strike over NPRA-SSNIT sale of hotels

A strike has been declared by Organised Labour in response to the NPRA’s approval for SSNIT to sell a 60% stake in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Bryan Acheampong. The TUC Secretary General expressed confusion over the NPRA’s decision to allow the deal to continue despite previously instructing SSNIT to stop. As a result, the TUC has instructed its members to stop working from Monday, July 15 until SSNIT publicly announces the termination of the sale. The union believes the sale is not in the best interest of Ghanaian workers. Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah informed Parliament that the NPRA has given the go-ahead for the sale after reviewing the details.
