Otumfuo orders Samanhene to summon 8

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has instructed his Samanhene, Nana Osei Kwaku, to address the alleged insult and denigration of the Golden Stool by Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.

The Samanhene and the Kumasi Traditional Council will invite eight individuals from a list of over 37 witnesses to discuss the incident. It is alleged that Wontumi insulted Otumfuo out of anger during an altercation with a Manhyia Constituency Executive at the recently held Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Vetting.

The confrontation was witnessed by nearly 40 people, including Otumfuo’s Brempon Nana Kwaku Duah, who reported the incident to Samanhene Nana Osei Kwaku. Independent investigations reveal that the misunderstanding began when a Manhyia South Constituency officer loyal to Napo confronted Wontumi over his refusal to acknowledge the contribution of Manhyia South MP Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the NPP activities in the region.

During the argument, Wontumi reportedly made disrespectful remarks towards Otumfuo, and Nana Kwaku Duah confronted him, but Wontumi refused to retract his statements. A list of witnesses has been compiled, and eight individuals have been invited to share their accounts. Wontumi denies making any derogatory comments and has released a statement and voice note to counter the allegations. Nana Kwaku Duah maintains that Wontumi insulted Otumfuo and is willing to take an oath with all witnesses to prove his claims.

Nana Boakye, the national organizer of the NPP, was also present at the vetting but denies the incident occurred, leading to accusations of betrayal. The Manhyia South constituency chairman, Richard Ofori-Atta, has demanded that Nana Boakye retract his denial and apologize for his false statement.
