Peace Council petitions CJ
The National Peace Council has urged the Chief Justice for a swift parliamentary election petition hearing ahead of the 2024 general elections to enhance Ghana’s democratic reputation. Chair of the Council, Rev Dr Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, emphasized the importance of timely adjudication in a TV3 interview.
In addition, the Council has introduced guidelines on hate speech and language for political parties and the media to promote peaceful and violence-free elections.
As Ghana prepares to elect a new president and Members of Parliament on December 7, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reassured the public of the government’s commitment to ensuring credible and fair elections. He called on political parties to uphold the integrity of the democratic system, embrace competition as an opportunity for growth, and handle the election process with maturity and respect for the outcome.
