2021 WAPCMLS AGM: Ghana Postgraduate College of Medical Lab Sciences will fix advocacy & policy gaps- Ex GAMLS Prez Dr. Awinibuno
Immediate-Past President of Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) Dr. Ignatius N. Awinibuno says setting up of Ghana Postgraduate College of Medical Lab Sciences will help fix advocacy and policy gaps in the health sector.
His comment follows the latest revelation by the Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu that plans are far-advanced to set up the said college for training lab scientists in the country.
Speaking to African Editors on the sidelines of official opening ceremony of 2021 Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (WAPCMLS), Ghana Chapter on theme: Postgraduate Medical Laboratory Science Education and Practice in West Africa on Saturday, 17 July, 2021 in Accra, Dr. Awinibuno said “Sepecialised training is the backbone of every profession, determines the rate of growth, and standards, prescribes new methods of diagnosis, research financing, scrap obsolete methods to the benefits of the public whilst protecting the overall interests of clients and we need the colleges to intensify advocacy”.
Dr. Awinibuno noted that “the college will enable upcoming and existing specialists to advice the health ministry and make inputs into formulation of policies in the sector based on professional competence and merits”.
