Prepare your handing-over notes – Asiedu Nketia to NPP

Chairman of Ghana’s biggest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) has advised the current ministers of the ruling government to prepare their handover notes in anticipation of a smooth transition when the NDC takes over. Johnson Aseidu Nketia believes that Ghanaians have lost faith in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and are inclined to vote them out of office.

Nketia stated, “The truth is that Ghanaians have already abandoned the NPP and their supporters. Therefore, the NPP ministers should wisely begin preparing their handover notes.” He made these comments during a press conference at the latest edition of NDC Speaks. He pointed out that this sentiment was evident in the recently conducted district-level elections, where many unit committee members affiliated with the NPP were voted out of office.

According to Mr. Nketia, this trend signifies that the citizens are resolute in their determination to replace the current government, and he predicted a similar outcome in the December 2024 election. He stated, “Thousands of individuals affiliated with the NPP have had a miserable loss in the district-level elections. These elections are non-partisan, and it is illegal for any political party to sponsor a candidate. However, the identity of the candidates and participants is known.”

Nketia argued that a recent compilation by the NDC found that, although the elections are non-partisan, most individuals linked to the NDC were successful. He continued, “Political observers and analysts can discern that this is another piece of evidence indicating a government is on its way out”.
