Produce dumsor timetable by March 27 – PURC to ECG

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission is requesting that the Electricity Company of Ghana publish a load management timetable in relation to power disruptions that the power distributor has blamed on 630 overloaded transformers during peak hours.

“Load management timetable corresponding with the timelines and duration for each transformer injection” is what the utilities sector regulator requests.

It also requires the ratings and current loadings of the distribution transformers that are overloaded.

Additionally, the GPS position of every distribution transformer that is overloaded has been requested.

In addition, it requests the ratings of the newly installed transformers at each site, along with the schedule and amount of time needed for each location’s transformer injection.

According to the Commission, the ECG is also to state the volume of load curtailed for each power outage incident, energy not served, and number of customers affected.

Meanwhile, PURC says failure on the part of ECG to respond to these key issues will force the Commission to impose sanctions on the power distribution company.

Additionally, the Commission is requesting proof that a load management schedule has been published.

The PURC directed that the timetable be made public by March 27, 2024.
