Rawlings 1yr Anniversary: Let’s preach June 4 Uprising ideals- UCF of Ghana
As Ghana marks the first anniversary of the late President Jerry John Rawlings, the leadership and entire membership of the United Cadres Front of Ghana has urged the family of the former Ghaianan Leader, NDC members, chiefs and people of the Anlo State to propagate the ideals of the June 4 Uprising.
A statement signed and issued by Chairman: IMC of UCF of Ghana Comrade Shine Gaveh on 12 November, 2021 said “Leadership and entire membership of the United Cadres Front of Ghana join the family, chiefs and people of the Anlo State, the entire membership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the good people of Ghana to commemorate the one year passing of our Chairman, Leader, Mentor and Inspirer, Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings”.
The former Ghaianan President joined his ancestors last year in the run-up to the crucial 2020 polls after short illness.
United Cadres Front of Ghana noted that “In fact, the pain that was visited on the cadre corps has had no relief since the passing of The Legend was sudden and shocking. The world learnt of the sad news with equal levels of grief that poured in from heads of state and government that cut across political persuasions”..
According to United Cadres Front of Ghana join the family, Flt. Lt. J.J. Rawlings was one of the greatest leaders of our country who truly left their footprints in the sands of time. Indeed, he is fondly remembered today especially when Ghana is seriously struggling with issues that bother on probity, transparency, accountability and social justice. Regrettably, his zero-tolerance for corruption has been bastardized with reported but unattended cases of perceived practices that undermine the integrity of state actors and institutions.
As we mourn his demise and at the same time “celeberate his well-lived life, true cadres of the processes he launched to propagate the ideals of the June 4 Uprising and the 31st December Revolution, are chllenged to fully participate and ensure the preservation of the legacies he left behind through the inception of the 1992 Constitution and also the founding of the National Democratic Congress. Particularly of importance would be the need to fight and protect the District Assembly Concept which visibly seems to be destroyed by open political partisanship that has stalled the vision of making the masses leaders and participants of their own development through the devolution of power and authority as well as resources to the grassroots”.
