The Management of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGLC) has become aware of a misleading post shared on the Facebook page of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Oforikrom Constituency in the Ashanti Region. The post—which has gained traction on both social and traditional media—alleges that the recent planned maintenance shutdown at the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant (GPP) was unsuccessful and that the facility remains non-operational.
GNGLC categorically refutes these claims. The statements are not only false but also deliberately misleading.
Maintenance completed ahead of schedule
Contrary to the claims, the planned maintenance shutdown was successfully executed ahead of schedule and in full compliance with international safety and operational standards.
The plant was restarted safely and is currently operational. Confirmation of this can be obtained from both upstream and downstream partners. Since August 27, 2025, Ghana Gas has resumed the delivery of sales gas to all major downstream consumers.
Planned maintenance programme, delivered results
The maintenance scope covered several critical technical tasks, including:
Calibration of safety systems
Overhaul of the main transmission compressor
Servicing of the heat medium system
Replacement of heat medium system fluid as recommended by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
Traditionally, restarting the plant after such a major shutdown has taken no less than 14 days. However, in 2025, the plant was fully restarted in just five days—a significant milestone that reflects improved efficiency, planning, and technical competence.
Leadership applauds technical team
Both the Chief Executive Officer and the Deputy Chief Executive for Technical and Operations participated in the shutdown process and have officially commended the technical team for their professionalism and commitment. Their efforts underscore Ghana Gas’s continued pursuit of excellence and national energy security.
Public assurance: Atuabo GPP fully operational
Ghana Gas assures all stakeholders, partners, and the general public that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant is fully operational and continues to deliver reliable gas supply to power producers and industrial users across the country. This uninterrupted supply plays a key role in maintaining national energy stability.
A call for responsible reporting
GNGLC urges media outlets, influencers, and the general public to seek accurate information from official sources. The dissemination of unverified or politically motivated narratives only serves to create public anxiety and undermine national progress.
