Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong has advised investors interested in investing in waste treatment in Africa to take research seriously due to the high toxic nature of waste.
He said this is the only way to make investments profitable and solve Africa’s waste problem. He made the call at this year’s Russia- Africa summit in St Petersburg.
The Russia–Africa Summit is the highest-profile and largest-scale event in Russian–African relations, aimed at bringing about a fundamentally new level of mutually beneficial partnership to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The agenda of the event is to promote efforts to strengthen comprehensive and equal cooperation between Russia and African nations across all areas of society including politics, security, economic relations, science and technology, and the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The First edition took place on 23–24 October 2019 in Sochi under the motto of ‘For Peace, Security and Development.
This year’s summit held at st Petersburg was under the theme “Cutting-Edge Technologies for Africa’s Sustainable Development”.
Contributing at a roundtable discussion, the executive chairman of jospong group of companies, Joseph siaw Agyapong was worried about how developing countries, Africa have placed prorities on infrastructure development leaving waste management.
Calling on investors into the sector, he cautioned that, Africa generates most toxic waste in the world so a proper visibility studies must be taken before investing into waste treatment.
He further called for a collaboration between educational institutions in both Russia and Africa to introduce exchange programs in waste management to help in proper study and solution to Africa waste treatment.
