Sad! Christian Atsu found dead

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed its deepest sorrow over the sad demise of Christian Atsu, who lost his life in the earthquake that hits Turkey.

Atsu, who played 65 times for Ghana, scoring nine goals, enjoyed a successful career at several clubs, including Everton, Chelsea, Newcastle in England, and Porto.

At the time of his unfortunate death, he was playing for Hatayspor in Turkey.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and the wider African Football Family have offered their heartfelt condolences to Atsu’s family and to the Ghanaian Football Family.

He joined Hatayspor in September of last year, and just hours before the natural disaster that has claimed over 45,000 lives, he scored his first goal for the club on Sunday, February 5.

Atsu was 31.

African Editors wishes family and friends deepest condolences. May the Lord grant Ghana, Africa and football fraternity the fortitude to bear the loss.
