UN Peacekeeping Mission suspends flights to Mali

United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mali has declared the temporary suspension of flights to Mali.

About 13,000 troops belonging to the UN Peacekeeping Mission are stationed in Mali. The mission has been trying to contain an Islamist insurgency in the region upon political instability.

ECOWAS has already imposed tough sanctions on Mali after the country’s interim administration announced a delay in elections.

Accordingly, ECOWAS has withdrawn its Ambassadors, closed borders with embargo on trade.
