The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has announced four significant executive appointments, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Notably, Prof. Winston Kwame Abroampa has been appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor. Additionally, Prof. Christiana Hammond will serve as Rector of the Institute of Journalism, while Prof. (Mrs.) Cecilia Addei takes on the role of Rector at the Institute of Languages. Prof. Samuel Manasseh Yirenkyi will lead the Institute of Film and Television as its new Rector.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah emphasized the importance of these appointments for the university’s future. “These accomplished professionals align with UniMAC’s strategic vision to become a leading institution for media, arts, and communication education in Africa,” he stated. “With their leadership, we are confident that the university will thrive, delivering innovative education and making meaningful contributions to society.”
Prof. Mensah also highlighted the appointments’ role in promoting gender parity and inclusivity in leadership. “These decisions reflect our commitment to gender equality, academic excellence, and inclusive leadership,” he added.
The new leadership team is tasked with advancing UniMAC’s mission to provide quality education and equip students with essential skills for success in the evolving media and arts landscape. Prof. Hammond, the new Rector of the Institute of Journalism, expressed enthusiasm about her role, stating, “It is an exciting time for UniMAC, and I look forward to shaping the next generation of journalists and media professionals.”
