UPSA appoints Prof. Mensah Mawutor as next VC

Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor has been appointed as the next Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), effective January 1, 2025. With over seventeen years of expertise in Accounting and Finance, Professor Mawutor has previously served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor at UPSA and holds the title of Associate Professor of Accounting.

His research focus on capital flight in Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa has led to a strong advocacy against corruption, showcased through his leadership roles outside of academia. Professor Mawutor has served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abokobi Area Rural Bank and as a board member of the Coastal Development Authority.

He holds a Doctor of Finance degree from SMC University (Swiss), a Master’s degree from Wisconsin International University College (Ghana), and professional certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. Professor Mawutor has contributed significantly to scholarly discourse through publications in indexed journals, conference presentations, and media engagements, making him a valuable addition to UPSA’s leadership team.
