UPSA Law Sch hosts Banking Experts on corporate governance & risky dealings in banks Thursday July 15

The UPSA Law School will once again host a team of seasoned experts and practitioners to discuss issues affecting the banking sector in Ghana.


The UPSA Quarterly Banking Roundtable (QBR), an initiative of the UPSA Law School is a discussion platform created by the School to critically engage pertinent issues affecting the banking sector in Ghana in a sustained manner.

The Roundtable aims to holistically analyse the banking sector in Ghana, and to daringly dissect the challenges facing the sector, with the aim of proffering solutions to same.

The fourth quarter of the discussion, which comes off on Thursday 15th July, 2021 will be on the topic ‘banks, corporate governance and risky dealings’. Panel members at the Roundtable discussion will critically assess the state of play of corporate governance practices in the Ghanaian banking sector, and reflect on the dynamics of ongoing reforms.

The discussion will also feature issues of board dynamics and failures, risky dealings and poor risk assessment dynamics, related party transactions, post-crisis recovery and stability of existing banks, among others.

The speakers at the discussion will be Mr. Rockson Dogbegah, President of the Institute of Directors-Ghana, Mr. Ismail Adam, Assistant Director and Deputy Head of Banking Supervision, Bank of Ghana and Mr. Michael Mensah-Baah, Chief Operating Officer, Absa Bank Ghana.

The UPSA Quarterly Banking Roundtable has fast become the most trusted platform for rigorous discussion and analysis of issues affecting the Ghanaian banking sector. The platform continues to bring together banking practitioners, experts, regulators and academics in a discussion of the most pertinent issues affecting the banking industry.
