US Court jails Hajia 4Reall for 1yr over romance scam
According to reports from innercitypress, Ghanaian socialite Mona Faiz Montrage, also known as Hajia 4Reall, has been sentenced to one year and one day in a U.S. court for her involvement in a romance scam.Despite her lawyers requesting a three-month prison term, the judge decided on the longer sentence.
The judge reportedly stated, “I sentence Ms Montrage to one year and one day in prison, the extra day to allow ‘good time’.” Hajia 4Reall’s defense team requested that she be allowed to return to Ghana immediately upon her release, without being detained by ICE.
Hajia 4Reall’s lawyers had initially argued for a shorter sentence, highlighting her role as a single mother. However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office pushed for a sentence of 37 months, citing the need for a strong deterrent against similar crimes.
Hajia 4Reall was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracy, and money laundering in connection with a $2 million romance scam. She was accused of receiving wire transfers from a victim to fund her father’s farm.
After the sentencing, the Fast Law Firm, representing Hajia 4Reall, expressed pride in their advocacy on her behalf. They announced that their client will issue a statement at a later time.
