UTAG, NLC return to court today

Legal showdown between University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and National Labour Commission (NLC) is expected today in court pertaining to the ongoing strike by the lecturers.

National Labour Commission dragged UTAG to court after the union refused to return to work despite NLC order to resume work.

UTAG has been on a nationawide strike for almost three weeks over worsening conditions of service. According to UTAG, government has been dragging its feet when it comes to implementing and fulfilling agreements and written MOU signed with the employer.

UTAG noted that government has failed to implement 2019 Labour Market Survey to the advantage apart from breaches of several gentleman’s agreement.

The first hearing of the case begins today.
