University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has served notice to continue their strike if the government fails to honour its obligation by Friday October 8.
The choice to continue the strike was taken at a National Executive Committee meeting on October 1.
A statement issued on Tuesday October 5 said “Our round dated twentieth August 2021 with reference number UTAG/NAT/2021/UP03 and the third update on the suspension of the withdrawal of educating and related exercises dated 22 nd September 2021 alludes.
“Following the marking of the Memorandum of Agreement with the Employer to finish the exchanges on the Conditions of Service of University Teachers inside one (1) month by settling every single remarkable issue, which shaped the reason for suspending the strike activity, it is miserable to report that the one-month ban has slipped by and the arrangement has nearly arrived at an impasse.
“Lamentably, inside the one-month ban, the Employer never moved its position despite the fact that UTAG made various concessions.
“Consequently, the National Executive Committee of UTAG at its gathering hung on first October 2021 settled that in case the Employer’s position stays unaltered by Friday, eighth of October 2021, individuals should continue the suspension of educating and related exercises until additional notification.
“All individuals are thusly coordinated to notice this order and act likewise.”
