We paid ₵30k for Black Star Square not ₵10k –Cheddar

Ghanaian Businessman Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has disclosed that he paid GH₵30,000 to secure the Black Star Square for The Convention event.

However, a letter from the Office of the President mentioned that the permit was being revoked due to an unforeseen State Event scheduled at the same venue. The letter also stated that GH₵10,000 would be refunded.

During an interview on Accra-based TV3, Nana Kwame Bediako highlighted the inconsistencies in the quoted figures. While the Presidency mentioned GH₵10,000, the businessman received a receipt for GH₵30,000.

He raised concerns about the discrepancy and questioned the transparency of the government’s actions. He further clarified that the payment was made through the New Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization he established. Interestingly, the permit issued by the Office of the President mentioned that the payment was made under the name of the Black Star Line.

Nana Kwame Bediako also expressed that the event was anticipated to take place from the 2nd to the 8th, although the main day of the event was the 7th, with preparations to dismantle on the 8th.
