2024 polls: Akua Donkor’s GFP disqualified, ballot positions remain unchanged -EC
The Electoral Commission has confirmed that the printing of the presidential ballot will proceed as planned, with no alterations to the positions.
As a result, Akua Donkor’s image and party symbol will still appear on the ballot paper. However, any votes cast in her name will be invalidated.
The disqualification was announced by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana Mrs. Jean Mensah, during an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday November 12, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has announced that 18,774,159 eligible voters are set to participate in the country’s upcoming elections on December 7. This total includes voters from the biometric register, special voters, and those without biometric data.
According to a summary of the certified 2024 voters’ register, signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations Samuel Tettey, the EC revealed that 18,640,811 voters have biometric data, while 131,478 are special voters. Additionally, 1,870 individuals are registered without biometric data.
This represents an increase of 1,746,518 voters compared to the 2020 election, which had 17,027,641 registered voters.
