Achimota Forest saga: Ga Traditional Council sets up c’ttee for probe

The GA Mantse and President of GA Traditional Council has set up a committee of eminent Chiefs and stakeholders to investigate all issues reading to the release of by portions of the Achimota Forest Reserve lands to Owoo’s Family.

President Akufo-Addo issued Executive Instrument (EI. 144) to declassify the Achimota Forest Reserve, the only greenbelt left for Accra, the capital and its environs upon the release of lands to the Owoo’s Family. This has received a backlash from many who hold the view that the decision is completely out of place.

A statement signed and issued by Sempe Mantse and Manklalo of the GA State Nii Adote Atintor II on Tuesday 24 May, 2022 said “The attention of the Ga Traditional Council has been drawn to the news of the release of portions of Achimota Forest to the Owoo’s Family and maters arising thereafter. The Ga Mantse and President of GA Traditional Council King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has set up a committee of eminent Chiefs to investigate all maters leading to the said release “.

“A report on the findings and consequence actions will be available to the general public”, the statement said.
