Akufo-Addo appoints John Boadu as SIGA Director-General

John Boadu has been appointed as the Director-General for the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) by President Akufo-Addo.

The appointment was made official through a letter from the Office of the President, with endorsement from the President’s Executive Secretary, Nana Asante Bediatuo. The letter stated that the appointment was made in accordance with the SIGA Act 2019 (Act 900). John Boadu will be assuming the role until the required advice from the governing Board of the Authority is received, in consultation with the Public Services Commission. A response from John Boadu regarding his acceptance of the appointment is expected within 14 days.

Previously, Stephen Asamoah Boateng served as the Director-General but resigned to pursue the position of National Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which he was unsuccessful in obtaining. He was later appointed by the President as the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

John Boadu, the former NPP General Secretary, now takes on the role of Director-General, following the retirement of Ambassador Edward Boateng, that paved the way for SIGA’S Director of Legal to serve the position in an acting capacity.
