Akufo-Addo sworn-in Dr. Dampare as 23rd IGP

President Akufo-Addo has sworn-in Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as the substantive Inspector-General of Police today.

Dr. Dampare has been serving in an acting position with respect to almost three months.

Before his swearing-in service, President Akufo-Addo said Dr. Dampare has demonstrated his choice to choose him to the capacity of Acting IGP and deserved to be raised to the highest Police top post in Ghana.

“I’m certain that once the fundamental cycles are done, which I’m sure will be soon, he’ll become our country’s 23rd Inspector General of Police”, the president said at the graduation of the 50th cadet’s course in Accra on Friday, 1 October 2021.

Dr. Dampare was elevated to the top hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service in July this year and assumed duty on 1 August.

The past Director-General responsible for Administration of the Ghana Police Service took over from Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh.

Upon taking over office, Dr. Dampare has implemented a couple of measures, for instance, the establishment of a horse watch unit among others.

Dr. Dampare has gotten acclaims from numerous across the political fraternity and won the hearts of Journalists who continue to pour on him as a police capo who has been on on top of issues in spite of spate of furnished burglary and attacks from unscrupulous in society.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as the 23rd IGP, President Akufo-Addo tasked him “not be at the beg and call of the governing party to win the trust Ghanaians “.
