Akufo-Addo to rename Kumasi, Tamale Airports

During the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) in Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, President Akufo-Addo announced that the redeveloped Kumasi International Airport in the Ashanti Region is on track to be fully operational by May. He also revealed that the airport will be renamed Nana Agyemang International Airport.

Additionally, the president stated that the Tamale Airport in the Northern Region will be renamed Yakubu Tali International Airport. President Akufo-Addo highlighted that the completion of the Kumasi International Airport, which is at 98% completion, will be a significant asset for regional connectivity, tourism, and trade in the Ashanti Region and beyond.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to positioning the country as a leader in aviation excellence on the African continent through the completion of these airports.
