Beware of job scams -Cyber Security Authority

The Cyber Security Authority is greatly concerned about the significant increase in job scam incidents happening nationwide.

In a public alert statement, the CSA revealed that it has received at least 15 reports from victims who lost a total of GH₵124,000. The CSA urges citizens to be cautious of unsolicited messages offering job opportunities, as scammers often pretend to be recruiters to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

Additionally, the CSA advises people to be skeptical of advertisements that promise high-paying jobs with minimal work. “If it appears too good to be true, it is likely a scam,” says the CSA.

The organization also highlights that job advertisements with poor grammar, spelling errors, or unprofessional communication are red flags that should be ignored. If these signs are absent, job-seekers are encouraged to verify job advertisements directly through the company’s official website or contact details, rather than relying solely on email or instant messaging.

Moreover, job-seekers should exercise caution when sharing personal or financial information, ensuring they are certain about the legitimacy of the prospective employer.
