Ghana premier league giant, Hearts of Oak will play their CAF Champions League match against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco, in front of 2000 fans after their request to the football governing body in Africa CAF was granted.
Due to CAF and FIFA covid-19 protocols, which asked all matches to be played behind closed doors, Hearts played their first match at the Accra Stadium without their fans.
In a bid to boost their qualifications at the expense of WAC of Morocco, they requested to get some fans back into the Stadium.
CAF in response to the request sent a letter to the GFA to reiterate the CAF and FIFA position in regards to Covid-19 and matches to be played in closed doors.
However, they exceptionally granted Hearts request to have 2000 fans at the stadium after analyzing and assessing the security situation at the Accra Sports Stadium.
However, they asked Hearts to observe all the Covid-19 protocols.
“Accordingly, a decision has been taken to exceptionally allow the presence of 2,000 spectators given that the National Safety & Security Officer (Julius Ben Emunah) and Club Safety & Security Officer will coordinate all safety measures on the aforementioned match”.
“We kindly ask your cooperation to fully comply with the above decision, while noting that in case of non-respect, your federation will be subject to disciplinary sanctions by CAF”, Raul Chipenda Development Director stated in the letter”.
Hearts will welcome WAC at the Accra Stadium on the 17th of October 2021 before traveling to Morocco.
